I couldn't understand a word of his acceptance speech, but by God, he deserved the award!

Bob Dylan has been nominated for, of all things, a Nobel Prize.

Hey, I can't say I'm against it. I'm of the opinion songwriting and poets are close cousings. After all, there's a reason a certain famous poet has been nicknamed, "The Bard." (Not to give Dylan any undue comparisons, of course.)

I am saddened, however, at my lack of knowledge of any of the non-English language writers on the list...though I can't see among winners such authors as Joyce Carol Oates (best work was a freaking short story), Doris Lessing (only one truly awe-inspiring work), or Margaret Atwood (everything really good, nothing truly great) winning yet. But then, maybe that's just me.

I'd say, if Dylan really is the best out there according to the international community, give the man his credit...regarless of his medium.

Well, I'd give the thing to Paul Simon before Dylan, but that's personal preference, I guess.
