My Big Trip to the Left Coast (And Other Locales)

Today was the first day in about three weeks that I wasn’t traveling or getting ready to travel. Even though I had lots to do, it was nice to know I could sleep in my own bed and not have to do laundry at midnight.

The big trip started with a visit to Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School (famed home of “The Dance of Women’s Spirituality”) in Rochester, New York where a memorial service was held for Dan. It was great to meet some of the folks Danny talked about, including some of you! The service was beautiful. I have to admit I was a little nervous about how it would go. I wasn’t sure how well the people up there really knew him. However, one of his professors delivered the sermon and I could tell that he “got” Dan.

I stayed overnight with our friend Robyn. We remembered when she called Dan one day to ask about buying a particular house. Dan talked her through it and I was excited to be able to be a guest in the very house she called about. When I left that Wednesday, I hadn’t gotten three blocks before I thought about how I couldn’t wait to tell Dan all about it. However, the saddest moment occurred after I pulled out of a service plaza onto the PA turnpike and could not get my bag of M&Ms open. Danny would have had a stroke if he had been there to witness the various ways I attempted to do this.

Then I had a nice weekend in Ellicott City, Maryland for my sister’s birthday. And I don’t want to mislead anyone (especially Gail), so I should mention that there were two of those giant cinnamon rolls.

Then my friend Jenny from California visited. Girl stuff ensued (shopping, manicures, pedicures, eating, etc.).
