Welcome Winter

It's about two months late, but Winter finally arrived in Youngstown today. By this time of year, we've usually had several inches of snow (maybe even over a foot), but not this year. It's been in the 40s and 50s over the last few weeks. Today temperatures hovered around freezing, but that didn't stop the snow.

Here are some scenes from my yard.

If you're a fan of winter, I'm afraid I have some very bad news. Because Mike and I moved here, we will never have winter again. Those two and three feet snowfalls are now a thing of the past.

We lived in NY for over 20 years, and I think we had winter twice. The rest of the time we'd get cold and freezing rain. Never anything that resembled snow. (Except one memorable blizzard back in '83.)

Last year we moved away from New York in November. By mid-December New York was buried under a blanket of white stuff that magically replenished itself all winter long. Here in Youngstown we didn't have winter.

Be on the lookout for two one-way bus tickets to New York in the mail.
